Entry Requirements Trainees should have working knowledge of Refrigeration or air conditioning equipment and working towards Refrigeration Handling certification (City & Guilds 2079). Minimum 1 year experience

Otherwise trainees should complete Principles of RAC: FETAC Level 6 or Fundamentals of Refrigeration (Part Time)or similar.

- Understand electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
- Differentiate between single phase and three phase wiring diagrams
- Understand control wiring diagrams and state their purpose
- Identify common components and symbols in RAC wiring diagrams such as actuators, switches, starters, capacitors, relays, transformers, and more
- Instruct other trades (such as electrical or BMS) on their requirements
- Use wiring diagrams for troubleshooting

Course Content This course assumes no previous knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning technology.

It will give learners a basic - but solid - understanding of the fundamentals of refrigeration, the main system types and components, the range of applications, including air conditioning and heat pumps, the use of controls, and the key provisions and impact of recent legislation on the sector.
