Learning Outcomes There will be a progression path for those students who pass the modules and wish to continue on with a degree in Quality or Manufacturing Management at IT Sligo. Course Content About Six Sigma Green Belt
Six Sigma Green Belt provides participants with enhanced problem-solving skills, using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control) model. This certification is in great demand by companies across all sectors in either manufacturing, pharmaceutical, healthcare or service sectors. It is suitable for all levels within the organisation from supervisor and technician through to engineering and management level.

The Green Belt fee of €200 covers a 1 day workshop for Green Belt exam revision along with the cost of the exam.

Course Content About Construction Management
Construction Management is a professional field that focuses on each part of the construction process of any built environment. Construction Management of the site may be maintained by a general contractor or a separate entity, and the construction management personnel or company answers to the developer and is responsible for overseeing every aspect of the project from start to finish.

About this Programme
The B.Sc. in Construction Management is a degree programme offered via on-line distance learning over a period of 2 years part time. The programme is specifically designed to facilitate industry professionals including; Engineers, Architects, Technicians, Foremen, Qualified Carpentry and Joinery Craft persons. The programme prepares graduates to assume technical, management, academic and research and development level positions within in the construction industry.

Organisation of the Programme
The course is delivered over two years and a special preparatory module and bridging studies programme is provided at the beginning of each year. The course consists of eight subject modules and four are delivered each year by a combination of on-line lectures and in-house tutorials. Learners may take as many or as few modules as they wish and complete the programme over a number of years to suit their own circumstances.

Learners will be required to attend the Institute for one week at the beginning of September during which they will be trained in on-line learning and they will receive introductory tutorials and bridging studies in each of the four subject modules to be delivered in the following academic year. Professionally qualified and experienced Civil Engineers, Architects and Quantity Surveyors will teach the various modules which are summarised on the following pages.

Learners will also attend at the Institute for a number of days in January and April in order to take practical and written continuous assessment examinations. The course includes a significant amount of on-line testing in each of the modules and the objective of the in-house written and practical examinations is to ensure the validity of the on-line test results. Written examinations will be held in the Institute at the end of each academic year.

About this programme:
This on-line programme is aimed at those already working in a quality-related function, or aspiring to do so. The programme covers the scientific and management principles necessary for the achievement of customer satisfaction in a way that makes an enterprise competitive. The tools and techniques necessary to implement LEAN and SIX SIGMA programmes are included as well as modules on the statistical, management and communications aspects of quality. These principles, tools and techniques also have wide application outside the quality function. Students completing the L7 BSc in Quality meet the requirements of the internationally recognised Six Sigma Green Belt award. Entry Requirements Higher Certificate NFQ Level 6 (Previously called National Cert) in a relevant discipline or Advanced Craft Certificate, or equivalent. Candidates holding other qualifications and/or with relevant experience will also be considered through an RPL ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ process.
Course Content About Polymer Processing
Use of polymers for a variety of engineering, medical-device, pharmaceutical and general consumer applications continues to grow. Polymer Processing focuses on the materials, processes, and tooling used in relation to polymers. Students completing the BEng in Polymer Processing meet the requirements of the internationally recognised Six Sigma Green Belt award. Students receive this award in addition to their degree by sitting an external Green Belt exam.

About this Programme
This programme was developed jointly by IT Sligo and Athlone IT, and leads to a joint award by both Institutes. In this programme participants learn the characteristics of various polymers, the common polymer processes (including injection moulding, blow moulding and extrusion) and factors in the design of tooling for these processes. The course also presents modules that are relevant to automated production (such as CIM and automation technology and energy and utilities management) and management modules relating to Six Sigma methodology.

Financial Support This course has been approved by ULearning Skillnet for a fees subsidy of up to 25% for students whose company is a member of the ULearning Skillnet network.

There are also a limited number of free places available for unemployed students who meet the required criteria by ULearning Skillnet.
