Theme: Innovation and Change through Learning Networks
The changing landscape of global business, along with the sustained growth of the Irish economy, has brought the matter of our domestic skills needs to the forefront of the Irish competitiveness agenda. Vulnerable sectors, emerging technologies and the knowledge-based economy have all contributed to the need for upgrading skills, acquiring new skills and expanding skills portfolios.
As the needs of the enterprise change, new methods of fast and flexible training and development are required to maintain those skills that will underpin successful enterprises. The theme of this year’s conference ‘Innovation and Change through Learning Networks’ brings together the work of 56 Skillnets networks, each using inter-firm collaboration to articulate and address specific skills needs. This has involved innovative ways of designing, developing and delivering learning for people at work and has shown real and tangible benefits for companies and employees.
Enterprise led business networks have played a significant role in driving the skills agenda at local, regional and sector level and the part that they have played in enhancing enterprise training and development will be explored.
