The Job-seekers Support Programme (JSSP) is a 100% funded initiative aimed solely at training unemployed people. It provides skills which are in demand by industry, combined with direct access to employers through work placements. Check your eligibility to attend a JSSP course and see what types of courses are on offer in 2013.

A survey of JSSP trainees carried out in 2011 reported that:

  • Over 50% of participants who secured employment confirmed that the Job-seekers Support Programme (JSSP) helped them to enter employment.
  • 50% stated that the programme helped them develop skills in setting up their own business.
  • 41% stated they made contacts and built relationships with people in the workplace.
  • 42% of respondents were either ‘very satisfied’ or ‘satisfied’ with their work placement as a preparation for work.

 

Are you eligible to attend a JSSP course?

You are eligible to attend courses run under the Job-seekers Support Programme (JSSP) if you are unemployed and fulfil any ONE of the criteria listed below, in addition to the Eligibility Criteria for Job-seekers.

  • You have been unemployed for more than 12 months OR
  • You are at Level 5 or less on the National Framework of Qualifications OR
  • You are under the age of 35 OR
  • You were formerly employed in the construction, manufacturing and retail sectors OR
  • You wish to enter the ICT sector
